Oh Lindsay. You are so gorgeous. I was so blessed to be able to take this lovely lady's bridals. It was seriously one of my favorite days in the world. This girl has amazing taste. Not only are the details of her dress and veil absolutely stunning, she brought a whole set up as well! Vintage suitcases and a cozy quilt? Yes, please! I will take that any day! And the light just happened to be BEAUTIFUL that day. I'm pretty sure it was the only day the sun was shining in December, praise Jesus. Everything was just stunning. Aaaand I was privileged enough to go to her beautiful wedding! It was one of THE MOST gorgeous, Christ-centered weddings I have ever seen. You couldn't help but bawl your eyes out. Lindsay HUFFMAN, thank you so much for letting me take your bridals. I cherish this memory so much. And just so you know, you belong on the runway. ;)

Hello blog readers! I'm sorry it has been so long! I feel like school has already taken over my life and it's only the end of the second week.. This is going to be a very packed semester! On that note, I just wanted to leave a thought with you this Friday before your weekend begins and your super cute date nights begin. My pastor is currently going through 1 Peter and we've hit the part that talks about marriage. In essence we are having a series on marriage packed inside a series through 1 Peter; my pastor is nothing, but thorough! ;) The Lord has really been working in me as I reach a season of my life where marriage isn't a far away thought anymore. I very well could be getting married in the next couple of years. I mean how crazy is that?! Well, obviously not that crazy to all of you engaged couples and newly weds.. clearly. But it is a crazy idea, or at least it should be in today's culture.

First of all, marriage was not intended for a basic, humanistic, pleasurable purpose. But because God is so unbelievably gracious and gives us above and beyond His desired purpose in everything in life, including marriage, it is incredibly pleasurable and fulfilling to us as humans. However, the sole purpose of marriage is for God to receive glory through that relationship and for it to symbolize Christ's deep and intimate love for the Church. You remember that typical "marriage passage" in Ephesians that we so often take for granted? Remember the command God gives us through marriage? "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior...Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..." (Ephesians 5:22-25). It doesn't say wives submit to your husband because it gives your husband pleasure and husbands love your wives and give yourself up for her because it gives your wife pleasure--- It says nothing about OUR personal gain, but about GOD's personal gain. We are to married to represent the relationship between Christ and the Church. The Church is to submit to Jesus Christ as he is the ultimate authority. And Christ loves the Church so much that He gave his very life, His beautiful, precious, and important life, for the Church just to show her His love. Our marriages are to depict this vision in every aspect and not be wrapped around what we as humans can take from a marriage. As is our relationship with Christ: God doesn't need us. He can do anything he wants whether we are submissive to him or not. But he still loves us, and we are to love him back by showing our obedience to him whether we get anything out of it or not.

Something also brought to my attention through this series was we live in a society where people go into marriages not expecting it to last. Marriages in our culture are seen as a selfish act and once that selfish desire is not satisfied (which it won't if your only goal is trying to produce selfish desires from your spouse) it's time to move on to find happiness else where. But clearly that is not what God intended. When God gave Adam his wife, Eve, Adam said "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh..." (Genesis 2:23). From the very first marriage God ordained, it was never intended for them to leave each other. Flesh of my Flesh. Think on that phrase for a minute. Leaving your spouse is the equivalent to losing a limb. I don't know about you, but I like all of my limbs in tact! And so does our marriage. You become one with your spouse when you say I do. You make vows and promises to each other before God that you will stay with your spouse through every trial that comes your way. And it is our job to honor those vows as God honors His vow to us when He promises he "will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). God calls us to have an abnormal marriage. One that stands out from today's society. A marriage that lasts through trials and turmoils. And that is the challenge I have been requested of God--- to prepare myself for an abnormal marriage. And that is the challenge I leave with you today!

Now all of this to say, if you are currently in a marriage where you find yourself seeking selfish desires or have gone through a divorce or currently going through one, that DOES NOT MEAN God loves you any less or doesn't love you at all. In fact it's the exact opposite! Not that he loves you more than others but that he wants to help you through difficult times in your life! He wants to hold you when a trial has been thrown your way. He knows you can't handle life on your own and he wants to handle it for you. I know this can be a sensitive subject for many. Just know, there is no judgement here. And there is no hatred from God. Would God send His precious son to die in our place if he didn't have an ever lasting love for us? Probably not. We are ALL equal in God's eyes. No matter what trials or situations we have gone through.

And with that being said.... Here is that sneak peak I promised you! I know, you were probably thinking can she just stop talking and show me the picture already?! Haha! This is my beautiful friend Lindsay who finally got married a couple of weeks ago! Let me just say, she rocked this shoot!

I am so excited to introduce you to this gorgeous girl! This is Brittney. She and I were in choir together when I was in high school and she is finally a Senior! SO exciting! Not only is this girl absolutely beautiful, she has an UH-MAZING voice too. And she also has the best hair ever. Totally jealous. I could take pictures of her all day! And lucky for me, Brittney will be back to do another session in the Spring! It's like a dream come true. And she brought her boyfriend along so be waiting for that super cute post too! Union City, TN Family Photographer | Roberts Family: My Family

So I realize this post is a little late considering Christmas was on Sunday. But better late than never, right? And it's still consider "the Holiday's" until after New Year's, isn't it?! Either way, this post is all about my lovely family. My mom decided this year she wanted to do a family picture to send out in Christmas cards and all that jazz. So we tried to find a time where we could ALL get together and that was easier said than done. We were finally together when we all crammed into our not so spacious car for six people to go visit my sweet grandparents in Tennessee. I was totally ok with this because Tennessee is absolutely gorgeous! I love it up there! Taking pictures up there would be a blast! So a few days into our trip, we all jumped in the car and I grabbed my camera and my tripod and we went looking for places to shoot. After taking some around my grandparent's gorgeous, cozy land of course. This first one is in their front yard, if you could call it that. It's more of a ginormous plot of land with no designated front or back yard. It's so gorgeous. Not to mention their beautiful house we posed in front of. The two story, white house was built in the late 1890's and it is stunning. Anyways, here are the pictures my family and I took in the gorgeous city of Union City.

Meet my lovely Family: From the left we have Lizeth, my brother's girlfriend. John David, my brother. My mom. My dad. Me. And The Boy (my boy, Travis ;)). I'm not sure if we're all laughing because we're happy or because they were laughing at me from running back and forth trying to make it before the timer went off. ;)

Here are my sweet parents again. My mom is so wonderful. She is definitely the person who keeps this family together and functioning. She is our rock. And I think everyone is in agreement that we would be lost without her. Then there's my dad who I absolutely adore. That's right, I'm a daddy's girl ;)

And my brother and his sweet girlfriend. We had so much fun on our visit to Tennessee. John David and Travis stayed in the house down the street that belongs to one of my 2nd cousins, or 3rd cousin (I can never keep it straight. We're all family, that's all that matters right? Haha :)). Anyways, Lizeth and I found their little bachelor pad hilarious. Lizeth and John David have been together forever and I think it's safe to say she was inducted into our family a long time ago. Not to mention she is absolutely gorgeous in these pictures!

Then there's Travis. He is my best friend. I adore him. And because of that he is apart of my family. :)

Finally one last picture of my precious little family. Oh and by the way, the dog, Mac, isn't ours. He's my grandparents. But he was definitely a nice touch to the picture. ;)

And here we all are! My Aunt Linda and my grandparents are joining us in this picture. There's a few of us missing because we couldn't all make it at the same time. And they were truly missed. Then there's of course my family back home in Texas that I absolutely adore as well. We're all family. And where would we be without them? I love you guys! :)

Ok friends, are you ready for a walk down one of my treasured paths? It starts by introducing the Shaw Family. I absolutely adore them! I started going to Stonegate Church almost a year ago, and I did a lot of volunteering up in the youth. This is where I met James, Christine and their 3 sons Caleb, Justin, and Ryan. Those boys are the most hilarious group you will ever meet. Not a Sunday goes by that I don't get a good laugh at how fun these 3 are. It's like a never ending cycle of sweet guy goofiness. And I find it SO entertaining! Then there's James and Christine. Their testimony is so sweet and encouraging. Not only are they just a fun, happy, loving, sweet couple to be around, they are also so willing to share their hearts with you when you need some godly advice. I don't know how many amazing words of wisdom they have provided me with this past year. I cannot express how thankful I am for this sweet family! God was so gracious to put them in my life. And I finally got to meet their daughter, Jamie! As well as Christine's mom and stepdad. It was such a blessing to make more sweet memories with you guys! Thank you so much for being awesome clients, but such amazing friends as well. Love you guys!

So sweet. I love taking pictures of sweet, happy couples. But two? That's even better!

So I have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather the past couple of weeks and then all of a sudden it got hot yesterday. Does anybody else feel like Texas needs to make up it's mind and pick a season? ;) But no matter the choice in weather Texas decides to drop our way, the Fall Special still remains. Ahhh you finally get to meet my roommates! I absolutely adore these girls! Emma, Edi, Brooke, Syeldy and I all moved in together in August and it has been a blast ever since. I always wake up to little surprises whether it's a little note or a full on pancake breakfast like Syeldy prepared for everyone this morning! We totally lucked out with getting each other as roommates and it is made all the more obvious when we go out on fun little adventures such as this one! We spent all afternoon getting ready for this shoot from putting outfits together to putting every hair in place to deciding which scarves to wear from our gorgeous little scarf wall. Thank you guys so much for allowing me to take some fun pictures of you in this beautiful fall light! I can't wait till we hang them up in our apartment!

The sun was doing all kinds of crazy flares, I loved it!

Yes, I do claim these girls as my roommates. And yes, we are the best apartment EVER.

Hello friends! So sorry for my absence, it's been so hectic! In the midst of planning my life out for the rest of my college career, I had a much needed break of stepping back and letting the Lord plan my life and do with me as He wishes, rather than trusting in myself to do all the work. And tonight I had the confirmation that I needed! I love my photography business so much! And I am so excited to see where the Lord leads me in this business. Thank you so much for being patient and understanding as the Lord works in my heart. My amazing roommate Brooke, who you saw here, also happens to be my bible study leader. Brooke and my other bible study leader, Lindsay, chose an amazing Beth Moore study over the life of David. Tonight's session was so wonderful. God showed me so much, but most importantly to just trust in Him.

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken."

The Lord is so good and opens up doors and opportunities in His timing. I am so glad I do not have to rely on myself and my own selfish desires. God is so good to me. I am overwhelmed in His love right now. And I am so thankful I can share that with you! :)

Well now that we are in such a good mood after that little uplifting note from the Lord, meet my roommates!! Yes, they have been my roommates since August and yes, I am aware it's November. But I still love them the same if not more! These girls are so encouraging to me and sometimes I forget how blessed I am to have them! So we decided to go on a fabulous mini Fall shoot and they were excellent models of course! ;) This is just a little preview, there will definitely be more to come! But I just wanted to share with you our awesome, goofy, fun, loving, adorable, precious, more wonderful adjectives I can't think of, apartment. Thank you girls for being such an encouragement to me and such solid girls in the Lord I can lean on. Y'all are such a blessing! :)

Guys, I have been so blessed with the most amazing roommates in my pretty little apartment! It's been such a fun year so far! This so happens to be one of my amazing roommates, Brooke and I absolutely adore her! We always do super fun stuff together including, but not limited to going to the Galleria for Fashions Night Out. I don't know if any of you have been to FNO, but it is a blast! Brooke and I pretty much felt like VIP famous people because of all the legit treatment we were getting. So while venturing through all the fancy, name brand stores I told Brooke we had to stop at Michael Kors because it is one of my absolute favorite brands. Well, Michael Kors happened to be doing a give away that evening and guess who won a brand spankin new Michael Kors bag? This girl! I was SO ecstatic!! So of course the first thing I wanted to do is go on a fun little shoot with my gorgeous roommate Brooke and take pictures of her and my new bag! And she agreed only because she loves me so much ;) So now I have an adorable Michael Kors bag and a lovely little shoot of Brooke to share with you. It's your lucky day! ;)And just so everyone knows, I will be announcing a Fall Special later this week! If your interested in a Fall session be looking out for it! :)

Can I just say this is one of the most gorgeous girls I have gotten to work with? Oh my goodness is she beautiful! Anna and her sister modeled for another "practice" shoot during my internship and I had the privilege of working with Anna that evening. She made my job SO easy - all she had to do was stand there and look like her gorgeous self! She even braved through the hot weather for me! Anna was the first shoot of the internship and when I started editing through this beautiful set, I was so excited! This is by far one of my absolute favorite shoots!

It's finally here! Welcome to my new pretty little blog! I absolutely love it! Those of you who have been following me on Facebook, you might notice the name of my business has changed. It's part of the new brand I've been working on for my business. The name is now Julie Kay Photography because I feel like it is so much more me and definitely more unique! Plus it's my mom's middle name and I love that I get to bring a part of her into this little world with me. So anyways, about a month ago, I had the opportunity to intern with Jessica Shae. I learned so much about my business and the direction I want to take it in. It's like I fell in love with photography all over again and it was such a blessing to have confirmation that this business is what I get to spend my time doing! Thank you so much for everyone (like all of my roommates) who have put up with me the last month as I've asked over and over again "does this look good?" or "how does this sound?" And especially thanks to Jessica for giving me the amazing opportunity of interning with her! Stick around because there will be more exciting posts coming this way! :)

So I have good news and I have great news! The good news is during my internship, I had a couple of "practice shoots," including one with three of Jessica's sweet siblings. I'm sure these kids are so used to having their picture taken since their big sister has her own photography business, but they spared some smiles for my camera too. And their smiles are absolutely adorable! Kids always make me smile with their goofy sayings and their sweet hearts. It's written all over their lovely faces!
Aaaand the great news is....My new brand will officially be launching very soon! I am beyond excited for the brand and the blog! Of course you get a sneak peak with these pictures, but the official announcement is coming up. So keep a look out!

For those of you who haven't heard on Facebook, I have been interning with the fabulous Jessica Shae. I have learned SO much this week, I feel like my head is going to explode! But that is a whole other post in itself. So I won't bore you with all the details.....yet ;) First, a fun little shoot to share with you. Meet Amelia: This gorgeous girl is an intern with Jessica too. We have been having a blast together so far this week!
